Ulun Danu Temple : The Beauty of The Temple at Circle Lake (Bratan) : Bedugul, Bali

Bratan Lake is a lake located in Bedugul, Candikuning Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan, Bali. The lake is located at the east between two other lakes are Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan, which is a cluster of twin lakes in a large caldera, Lake Bratan is quite special.

Located in the provincial road that connects Denpasar and Singaraja and its proximity to the Eka Karya Botanical Garden makes this place into one of the prime tourist island of Bali. Besides, within easy reach of Lake Bratan also provides a variety of charm and adequate accommodation.


In the middle of the lake there is a temple of Pura Ulun Danu, which is a place of worship of the Goddess Danu Sang Hyang as a giver of fertility.

Ulun Danu Beratan or Bratan Temple is a large water temple in Bali, Indonesia - the main temple of other water into Ulun Danu Batur Temple. The temple complex is located on the northwest edge of Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul. water temple filled the whole area in the watershed; at the downstream edge of the water there are many small temples that are specific to each irrigation association (Subak).

This temple is actually used for ceremonial offerings to the goddess Dewi Danu, the goddess of water, lakes and rivers. Lake Bratan is one of the important lakes in terms of irrigation.

This complex was built in 1633 which is spread over several islands. Meru, with eleven roof dedicated to Shiva and his wife Parvati. Buddha also has a place in the temple of the Hindu god.

Lake Bratan lake known as the "holy mountain", is a very fertile area, located at an altitude of 1,200 meters, and the climate is very cold.
