A. Overview
Mount Dempo is the highest mountain in South Sumatra, which is as high as 3,195 meters above sea level (asl). Mount Dempo classified as an active volcano and still often smoke with spitting a little mud to the lowlands below. The mountain is included in the ranks of the Bukit Barisan Mountains which has two peaks, namely Mount Dempo and Mount Merapi.
B. Features
Area of Mount Dempo is the only mountain tourist sites in South Sumatra. In the forest to the summit of Mount Dempo there is a small river with clear water. Hikers can take advantage of this river water as drinking water during the trip. To climb, visitors must pass through the forest area by tracing the path that is filled with the roots of large trees are transverse. This state of dense forests and deserted, so occasionally can be heard the sound of birds chirping.
From a certain height, visitors can see the expanse of green tea gardens. Tea garden is an area of 1,500 acres owned by PT Nusantara Plantation PTPN VII. If visitors look further will appear Pagar Alam. This panorama will be more beautiful when seen at night, because it will look sparkly lights that adorn Pagar Alam.

D. access
Mount Dempo is located approximately 310 km west of the city of Palembang. To achieve this mountain, visitors can use a private vehicle or bus to Pagar Alam takes about 7 hours. From Terminal Pagar Alam, visitors can head to the foot of Mount Dempo, located about 15 km using a private vehicle or charter heading to Tea Factory PTPN III. At the close of this tea plant, it helps visitors to see an elder Mount Dempo, the elder person by nature lovers who will climb Mount Dempo. He will take visitors to the nearby village of the foot of Mount Dempo, namely Kampung Four takes about 30 minutes. From here, visitors can go on through the path leading to the summit of Mount Dempo.

If the visitors or climbers want to stay, there are facilities such as villas, inns, motels, and food stalls around the foot of Mount Dempo.
